Sophie with her Principal

Students from Sacred Heart College, New Town, attended Special Olympics last week. They took part in basketball and in-door bowls, skills development and competitive games. All participated enthusiastically.

Each event is awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. The major award for the day is the Personal Best Medal which is given to those participants who display outstanding sportsmanship along with consideration and helpfulness toward others.

The College were most honoured to say that Sofia Cavarretta from Grade 9, Quinlan House, won the Gold medal in this category. We thank Sofia for representing herself, the College and Catholic Education so well and acknowledge, with much pride, such a valued achievement.

Sophie is pictured with the Acting Principal of Sacred Heart College, Mr Eamonn Pollard, who is super proud of Sophie.

On an earlier occasion, she was involved in serving food to the Archbishop as part of her Home Economic course. She's a young lady going places and we congratulate her!
