Prayers for our Church Family

We have a wonderfully diverse Church Family here in Tasmania, and Parishioners from around the state involved in the Diocesan Pastoral Council have been considering this, especially in light of the forthcoming Year of Grace. It has been decided that each Sunday of 2012 will be particularly devoted to one or more of the communities and organisations that make up our Church Family. We will pray for each of them in turn in our General Intercessions, beginning this week with the Marist Fathers and Centacare Tasmania Family Services.

The Marist Fathers have had a continuing presence in Australia since the 1840s.  Many Marists have been involved in parish life, schools and adult education.  They have worked in the Archdiocese of Hobart since the 1950s mainly in the Burnie/Wynyard parish and also at Marist College in Burnie.  For a number of years they also ministered in the parish of Claremont.  To find out more about the Marists:

As part of the Social Justice Outreach of the Church, Centacare Tasmania Family Services provides a wide range of support for families and individuals. Their Services are varied and cover many areas from counselling, adoption, refugee services, housing advocacy, family life education and family support. All programs aim to enhance human dignity and enable people to realize their full potential.
