Larmenier Transformed!
Students at the garden

Lucky Larmenier Catholic School! The school was chosen to receive a sustainability make-over from Bunnings, who were supported by several local businesses to provide twelve new garden beds.

The action happened largely over one day with teams of tradesmen and labourers converging on a corner of the playground to create the vegetable garden for the school. The school was provided with a watering system, raised garden beds, fence and gate, landscaping, vegie seedlings and even a long jump pit. This will further work already happening on growing food and farming animals at the school.

At lunch time there was even a free sausage sizzle for everyone.

The school is very grateful to all involved. The community-sustainability program from Bunnings supports similar projects every month and all labour and materials were donated to the school.

Thanks go to Dion Silver, Kim the community programs co-ordinator and eight other staff from Bunnings; Chris Reissig and four builders from CRB-Reissig Builders; Stramit Building Supplies; Abel Landscaping; Berties Butchery; Gunns Timber, Feedlot Powranna and Nick Brown of Chelby Machinery Plants.

Now it is over to the students to plant, tend and maintain the garden and later to harvest, cook and sell the produce.
