Archbishop Welcomes Abuse Inquiry

12 November 2012

The Archbishop of Hobart, Most Reverend Adrian Doyle, tonight welcomed the announcement of a national royal commission into child sexual abuse.

“I am particularly pleased that the Prime Minister has announced the inquiry will be wide-ranging,” Archbishop Doyle said.

“While I acknowledge that there have been issues in the Catholic Church, this unfortunately is an issue which extends across the community.

“All of us share the community outrage at what has happened and I hope the national inquiry will provide some resolution, especially for victims.

“The Catholic Church in Tasmania will cooperate fully with the royal commission.”
