The Archdiocese of Hobart Ecumenical Commission was established in 1993.
Its members are drawn from across the State:
- Tony Le Clerc (Blackman's Bay)
- Rosemary and Paul Dobber (Lindisfarne)
- Fr Michael Delaney (West Coast)
- Fr Terry Southerwood (Launceston)
- Sr Elizabeth Vagg (Launceston)
- Pat and John Barker (Penguin)
The commission aims to promote Christian unity through dialogue, prayer and participation in ecumenical activities. There is strong involvement in the Tasmanian Council of Churches (TCC) as members of the Executive, the Commissions for World Justice and Development, the Gospel and Human Relationships, Ecumenical Spirituality, Theology and Education, and Christian Religious Education in State Schools.
In addition, members participate actively in local ecumenical initiatives involving dialogue, prayer, social justice, sharing of resources, pastoral care and education. The commission liaises with other Diocesan Ecumenical Commissions and provides feedback to the Archbishop on ecumenical activities in the Archdiocese.
