Catholic Diocesan Centre
Tower Road, New Town
The buildings now occupied by the Catholic Diocesan Centre began life in 1955 as the New Town Park Maternity Hospital and an associated nurses home. In the early 1970s they became the Douglas Parker Rehabilitation Centre, used for the care and rehabilitation of adults and children.
In 2001 the property was purchased from the Motor Accident Insurance Board by the Catholic Church in Tasmania. From early 2004 the building was extensively renovated internally as office accommodation and the surrounds were re-developed to provide car-parking for visitors and staff.
The transformation of the building was completed with the Blessing and Official Opening on Friday, 9 September 2005. The building was Blessed by the Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell and Officially Opened by the Governor of Tasmania, the Hon. William Cox. more …

Bequest Programme
The Archdiocese of Hobart Bequest Programme helps ensure that the vital work of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus through the ministry of the Catholic Church in Tasmania continues into the future without undue worry about financial resources to support this work.
Increasing demands must be met at a time when traditional sources of income, such as from the parishes, are falling and when lay people are taking on more responsibility. It is only just that they be paid accordingly.
Bequest funds accumulate in a Trust administered by Trustees appointed by the Archbishop. Any bequest becomes a permanent legacy.
The income earned, adjusted for inflation in order to maintain the real value of the bequest, will be distributed annually by the Trustees.
